COVID-19 School Update 17/04/2020

Posted on 17 April 2020

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

We hope you are all safe and well in your bubbles, and Term 2 has started well.  Firstly, we would like to acknowledge and thank those of you in our community who are essential workers and who are leaving your homes and families every day.  You are doing an amazing job!

The Leadership team had a Zoom meeting on Tuesday so that all our Leaders of Learning could check in with how things are going with the planning for teaching and learning that has now started. The teachers are working hard and have been running online meetings to ensure they are supporting each other and, so that all the students can have meaningful learning happening at home.

Alert Level 3

The Prime Minister announced what Alert Level 3 will look like for everyone, including schools, when a decision is made to move out of Lockdown.  We are yet to hear the details behind this from the Ministry of Education to establish how we can meet health and safety guidelines as we move to Alert Level 3. Children physically attending school will be voluntary, but all children not at school will continue to learn by distance. Schools will be open for children to go to learn if their parents need to return to work, or the children that cannot learn at a distance. Children who are able to, should remain home and learn via distance. After we go to Alert Level 3 schools will not open for at least a week.  We will share more information when it is made available to us.  We have no confirmed dates at this stage.

We will update you once we have further information from the Ministry of Education.
